Here is my farewell speech from Wednesday and Thursday September 22/23, 2011 at Chiang Saen Wittayakom:
"When I came to Thailand, I was told that Thailand is the land of smiles. People smile when they are happy, when things are funny, and even when they are sad. After one year, I understand this Thai way.
Today, my smile is both happy and sad. I came to Chiang Saen alone, but I am going home with a family of Chiang Saen students and teachers. You have been my family this year. You have been kind and friendly and it makes me so happy when you say “hello teacher”, “good morning teacher.” I feel so loved. I am sad to say goodbye, but I am proud of how much you have learned and how much I have learned from you.
Remember to practice speaking English and don't worry about mistakes. You know a lot! I will miss you so much and you will always be in my heart.
Thank you for everything you are truly amazing!
Khap Kuhn ka!"
--Hopefully at least some of the students understood! I tried to keep it simple. Man, am I going to miss this place!
